Throught the years we have upgraded many TYPO3 installations.

Which TYPO3 and TYPO3 CMS versions can be upgraded?

If we talk about the Core of TYPO3, we can most likely still upgrade from version 4LTS in steps to the latest, and certainly from any version 6.

Sometimes the old web design must be updated, which can be a large part of the project. Older websites may not be Responsive or Adaptive. Things like that need attention when upgrading.

Extensions for addional functionality must be upgraded too. Sometimes that's not possible. We have to decide then how to proceed. We have the skills to upgrade code so there will allways be a solution.

How does this relate to Maintenance?

It is not allways easy for website owners to keep pace with Updates and Upgrades. At a certain moment in time it's possible you need to yield because extensions or customized functions need extra work too, which can be too expensive for that moment. It is business wise to be prepared but life has its demands. So then after some more years the website still runs but the system has aged and will soon need renovation.

Composer helps

With Composer in place, modern websites on our servers can be easier maintained. We serve Composer but also the default way of handling Updates & Upgrades for TYPO3 CMS and extensions.
